Each kitten has a different color!
We recently wrote about the birth of our Selkirk Rex kittens, and now one of our Bengal queens has delighted us with six kittens – and not just any six! At New Wave Kitty Cattery, we’ve once again made history! We welcomed a truly exceptional Bengal litter where each of the six kittens is a different color. This is a rarity, even in the colorful world of Bengal cats.
This litter was born under our clouded Bengal program, and their coat colors are simply stunning: brown, charcoal, silver, silver charcoal, mink, and silver mink. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more colorful lineup – and what makes it even more special is that each kitten was born with large, high-contrast rosettes.
Their pedigree speaks for itself
The mother is a gorgeous, large-rosetted smokey Bengal female, born in our own breeding program. We proudly kept her as a breeding queen due to her exceptional quality. The father is a clouded-pattern silver lynx Bengal stud imported from Russia – he represents a powerful and unique genetic line. This pairing was not only aesthetically promising but also genetically rich, providing the perfect foundation for a diverse litter.
A calm and smooth delivery
The delivery went smoothly and peacefully. I was right there to assist the mother, who remained calm throughout the process. Since then, she’s been an attentive, caring mom, nurturing her babies with love and ease.
What’s the secret to such a variety of colors in one Bengal litter?
In most Bengal litters, you’ll only see one or two coat colors. Often, breeders don’t have the genetic knowledge, or color diversity simply isn’t a goal.
At New Wave Kitty Cattery, we work intentionally and strategically to select Bengal parents with genetic combinations that offer the potential for diverse coat colors and patterns.
In this particular pairing, we calculated that up to eight different coat colors were genetically possible. While luck plays a role in getting six different colors from six kittens, we laid the foundation with careful genetic planning.
This outcome is not random – it is the result of professional knowledge, genetic insight, and a passion for purposeful Bengal breeding.
